I was wrong about Cantamus

One of the best reasons to marry the smartest person you know is that this person may turn out to have insights that you might not have considered, especially if this person is smarter than you on at least one demonstrable metric.

And Larry is, which is why as soon as I showed him the track I made in Cantamus he said "You know, this is exactly what you need to make a concept album with real people. It's also exactly what you need to show people to get them excited about the project before you start recording."

"But the AI singers can't tell the story," I said. "They're robotic."

"That's good," Larry said, "because any director or musical director who knows anything about what they're doing will be able to listen to this and start thinking about how they're going to tell the story."

"So they're not going to try to imitate the robot?"

"Absolutely not," Larry said. "But your singers, especially the ones who don't read music, can use these tracks to learn the score."

"Wait, wait, wait," I said, opening my laptop. "That's actually Cantamus's whole deal. They take your music and create learning tracks for choirs and ensembles."

I showed him how it worked, and I might as well show you too:

As soon as Larry saw this, he said that I needed to get my tracks in Cantamus as quickly as possible.

"That's the tool you need to make this show work," he said. "How much does it cost?"

"Five Euros a month," I said.

"I think we can fit that into the budget," he said.

This is why I love him. ❤️
